Do you claim benefits?
Free boilers are available via ECO, a government backed scheme. Check if you qualify for grant funding, before it runs out.
step 1
Check if you Qualify
First, you'll need to answer some questions about the benefits that you currently claim, your home and it's current heating system. From this, we'll be able to tell you if you qualify for funding for a free or heavily subsidised gas boiler.
1
step 2
Book your Survey
Once you've qualified and submitted your claim, we'll put you in contact with a local approved installer who'll take your enquiry to the next stage. They'll call you to ask some quick questions, and then, they'll arrange a free survey of your home.
2
step 3
Book your Installation
If you're happy with the grant funding that has been calculated, your new boiler will be installed. The whole process should take no more than 7-10 days. The funding you receive may cover the whole cost, or, the majority of the cost.

Who can to apply for a free boiler
If you or anyone in your home receives Pension Credit (guarantee element), you could apply for a grant to replace your boiler free of charge, or, have the cost heavily subsidised.
To replace your old, broken or in-efficient boiler you could be looking at costs as high as £4000. However, thanks to the ECO scheme, those who are in receipt of Pension Credit (not to be confused with a standard state pension) could claim a grant to have theirs replaced free of charge, or heavily subsidised.
In order to apply, you, or anyone in your household will need to be in receipt of Pension Credit (guarantee element).
ECO, or the Energy Company Obligation has been set up by the UK government to help vulnerable home owners improve the efficiency of their homes and reduce their heating bills.
On every utility bill there is a ‘Green Tax’. This money is now being distributed to vulnerable, low-income and fuel poor households to help cover the costs of new boilers, and insulation measures.
The funding is controlled by the UK's biggest energy companies, including, but not limited to:
- British Gas
- EON
- EDF
- Scottish Power
- Octopus
- Shell
- OVO
- Bulb
With winter drawing in fast, it's important to be prepared. If your current boiler is 10+ years old then it's more than likely going to be unreliable, and expensive to run. All new boilers which are installed via the free boiler scheme are A rated, which in percentage terms is 90%+. By comparison, older boilers can be anywhere from 60% efficient. This means that for every £1 you spend on your heating, 40p is literally wasted. If you qualify for a free boiler via a government grant, your new boiler will waste less than 10p which is a huge saving.
Recent figures taken from the Energy Saving Trust have shown that by replacing your old in-efficient boiler, with a new A rated combi condensing boiler, you could save up-to as much as £580 over the course of a year.
If you're a pensioner in receipt of Pension Credit, apply for a grant online.
